I have spent most of my life in London and decided to set up Pedals because I’d had enough of breathing in car exhaust fumes. Year after year I felt like air quality was getting noticeably worse and going unchecked. With 80% of the vehicles on the roads of London being for delivery I wanted to see if I could make a dent, even if it was a small one. I got started simply going door to door, talking to people about the benefits of going green. It was always of interest to most customers but just not a priority at all a couple of years back.
Global warming hasn’t been at the forefront of many people’s minds until now, with every other article calling for immediate action without which dire consequences will follow. At Pedals this mindset shift became apparent too. We began to get more and more inbound enquiries from customers writing in to us asking us to help them be more sustainable. This has always been the inflection point that we’ve been waiting for and we really want to do what we can to make an even bigger dent in carbon emissions.
We recently hit a big milestone at Pedals with 17,000 deliveries done to date. It goes without saying that we wouldn’t have got here without the customers that have continued to work with us over the years to get us to this point.
It’s never too late to start making a difference. People are always skeptical about the impact their actions will have but if we all continue to be that way, nothing will ever improve. We began with small businesses at the start and continue to nurture those relationships. A few green deliveries a week helps unclog London’s roads and will help us grow this number of deliveries even more. Together we can all make a difference. It’s never too late for your business to start being green.
Together let’s get even more cars off the road this year!
